You have wanted to become a doctor your whole life. You studied hard, made high grades in college and got good recommendations. When the time came, you did well on the MCAT. After going through the process of medical school interviews, you have found a spot. Now it is time to enter medical school and become the doctor you have always dreamed of becoming.

Now that you have been accepted into medical school, the work does not stop. It is just begun. Medical school is not easy and although you will find that you quickly make friends and have a good time, it is also a time where you will spend countless hours in the classroom and studying hard. During your first and second years of medical school, you can expect to take class that relate to the human body and medicine. You will not enter the hospital or see patients yet. You will learn about the human anatomy, biology and pharmacology.

When you hit your third year in medical school, you will begin your clinical rotations through the hospital. You will learn a little bit about each medical specialty including obstetrics, surgery, pediatrics, psychiatry, and internal medicine. This can be some of the busiest work you have ever had. When your fourth year of medical school starts, it is considered the hardest year of medical school. A lot it expected out of you as you choose rotations that interest you. During this time, you will also begin the process of finding a residency program, where you will further your studies for another three to six years. You will then interview at residency programs and will enter what is called a match before you graduate. This match will determine where you will spend the next few years after medical school is over.
